My Favorite Biscuit Recipe

I love bread.  Especially home-made bread.  I especially love to make home-made biscuits because they don’t require yeast, and they are quick and easy.  I have tried a few recipes in the past, but once I found this one, I stuck with it.  It’s definitely a keeper and one worth trying! 🙂

Biscuit Recipe

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 cup shortening (or butter)

3/4 cup milk

1.  In a large bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt and baking soda.  Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly.  Add milk; stir just until the dough clings together.

2.  Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead gently 10-12 times.  Roll out to 1/2-in thickness.  Cut with a biscuit cutter.  Place 1 inch apart on a greased baking sheet.  Bake at 450 degrees for 11-12 minutes or until lightly browned.  Serve warm.
